“Exploring resilient interdependence through culture and education in the commons.”
WHC Mission statement
The Woods House Collective (WHC) started as an idea and developed over the past 30 years into an arts and educational research, consulting, design, and engagement group.
The WHC began on the steps of the Detroit Public Library in 1993 when two young people sat on the steps and talked about a creative idea together. Over the years they’ve developed ways to wrangle wild ideas, turn those ideas into plans, and once in a while manage to turn those plans into action.
And since 2010, through their work as Look Wonder Discover, the WHC has been on a mission to explore possibilities. Possibilities for healthy relationships with digital technologies. Possibilities for creative communities. Possibilities for science communication. Possibilities for engaged literacy.
